Cursor is an AI coding platform built around an agent that can take on software development tasks inside an editor, rather than just suggesting individual lines of code. It is aimed at developers and engineering teams, from individuals to larger organizations, who want to hand off parts of coding work, such as building a feature or fixing a bug, to an AI agent while they focus on reviewing and directing the result.
A developer describes a task in natural language, and Cursor's agent explores the relevant codebase, drafts a plan, writes and tests code, and presents the result for review. Control ranges from small, targeted edits a person triggers directly, up to autonomous agents that keep working in the background for extended periods and can run several tasks in parallel. Beyond the desktop editor, Cursor is also reachable from a command-line interface, through Slack, and inside GitHub pull request reviews, and it indexes a codebase to support semantic search while it works.
Cursor offers a free Hobby tier with limited agent requests and no credit card required, alongside a paid Individual plan with higher limits. Team and Enterprise plans add per-user billing, centralized administration, single sign-on and usage controls, with Enterprise priced individually for larger organizations and billed monthly or yearly.
