Etherscan is a block explorer for the Ethereum blockchain that lets anyone look up transactions, wallet addresses, tokens and smart contracts. It serves crypto users, developers and traders who want to verify activity on Ethereum or simply see what is happening on the network at any moment.
Through a searchable web interface, a user can pull up a specific address, transaction or token and see its full history, or browse the latest blocks and transactions as they are added to the chain. Etherscan lets a signed-in user attach private name tags to addresses and personal notes to transactions for their own reference, though it explicitly warns against storing passwords or private keys in those notes. Beyond the main Ethereum network, it also supports test networks such as Sepolia and Hoodi for developers testing contracts before they go live.
Etherscan does not list any pricing on its site; browsing and searching the explorer is free.
